Welcome to our site. I’ve been attending conventions since the 1990s. I was an avid Magic the Gathering player who competed on the ProTour. At the time, I was a poor college student, and the tournaments subsidized the travel and hotel rooms.
Over the years, I’ve moved from gaming at conventions to cosplay. Our family attends several conventions each year, and I am always there to take pictures for our our instagram page, attend panels so I can learn more about how to craft great outfits, or listen to the guest speakers who share behind the scenes stories.
I started FancyMasks.com as a side project when I left corporate america. It started as an e-commerce website where I sold accessories and masks. Sadly, Amazon came in and began selling cosplay items far cheaper than I could even source them.
It led me to depression, and I let the site set dormant for a few years before opening it up as a blog where I could share what I’ve learned about cosplay and conventions from my two decades of attending events.
I am far from an expert, but I openly and freely share what I’ve learned from all the time I’ve spent in the hobby. If you’d like a safe place to talk about Cosplay, to learn and and share what you know, welcome to our site.
We’re always open to hearing about projects that you’re making, places you’re going or tips that you have for our other readers. Our primary goal is to be an open and inclusive site for people to talk about cosplay.
If you’d like you join us, feel free to follow us on Instagram or Twitter or just keep reading the posts on our site. Also, feel free to reach out to us on our contact us form. We love hearing from the readers of our site.
